Particle Physics Seminar: Scalar scattering off an infinite Wilson line in Chern-Simons matter theory
Maya Assa, Tel Aviv univesity
Abstract:
Chern-Simons gauge theories in (2+1) dimensions provide a natural setting in which topological phases appear in scattering processes. In this talk, I will discuss the scattering of a scalar particle off an infinite static Wilson line defect in Chern-Simons matter theory, with emphasis on its relation to the Aharonov-Bohm scattering problem. The Wilson line amplitude is obtained from a perturbative expansion in insertions along the Wilson line, which can be resummed to all orders. I will show that the resummed amplitude contains the characteristic Aharonov-Bohm structures. The resulting reduced amplitude depends only on the scattering angle, with no dependence on the scalar mass or on E/m.
