Abstract:
I will review the work at Weizmann focussed on observing stars as soon as possible after they explode.
I will present a summary of our work in the past decade or so, and in particular the main result that most massive stars are surrounded by a compact distribution of CSM, that is unexplained by standard stellar evolution models, and could have significant implications to our understanding of massive star evolution and death. I will present some more recent results, and describe prospects in the near future for new results from facilities on the ground and in space.
