Abstract:

Excessively bright galaxies, as observed by JWST at cosmic dawn (z=8-15), are explained by a simple physical model. It predicts high star-formation efficiency due to feedback-free starbursts (FFB) in thousands of star clusters within early compact galactic disks.  The FFB scenario may provide a natural setting for rapid black hole (BH) growth. This involves the formation of seed BHs by core collapse in the young rotating FFB star-clusters, followed by dynamical-friction migration to the galaxy centers where super-massive BHs grow by mergers, overcoming gravitational-wave recoils. The predicted post-FFB evolution is consistent with JWST observations at cosmic morning (z=4-7), including the observed population of BHs with high BH-to-stellar ratio, an excess of  massive quiescent galaxies, and a large population of high-z globular clusters.
