Lab C is an obligatory year-long (for physics students) or a single semester course (for double major and other combined programs). The experiments in Lab C are performed by students in pairs, with as little help from tutors as possible. Each pair of students performs 3 experiments per semester.
The experiments available in the advanced laboratory are:
Mossbauer effect, Compton effect, Gamma-Gamma correlations, Particles simulation, Muon half-life, Neutrino mass, Nuclear fission, Atomic spectroscopy, Molecular spectroscopy, Molecular fluorescence, Electron 2D gas, Low temperatures, Spin-dependent transport, Nuclear magnetic resonance, Optical fibers, Laser resonators, Photometry of a pulsating star, Analysis of gravitational microlensing events.
Each experiment takes 4 weeks: the first week is dedicated to preparation, 2 weeks for performing the measurements and the last week for finalizing the data analysis and writing the report. To accommodate all students, there are two cycles (A and B) shifted by two weeks. Due to the extended length of the measurements, the intensive use of experimental systems and the number of students, following the schedule is very important.
The main location of the laboratory is in the Shenkar (physics) building, ground floor, rooms 101 and 107. Some of the experiments are located in other rooms in the Shenkar and Kaplun buildings.
