Abstract:

Planetary interiors models usually assume interior structure of 2-3 shells of different composition, inspired by the structure of the Earth. However, several studies from the last few years suggest that the composition distribution in interiors of other planets may be very different from this simplified picture. I will show some of these new findings and discuss what possible planetary types we expect, and what we can learn about the planetary interior from future observations.
