Air Pollution Research Center

Air Pollution Research Center
  • More than 7 million people die every year from air pollution, both indoor and outdoor pollution

  • With global urban expansion trends, cities play a crucial role in increasing air pollution due to contributions of urban sources (e.g. industry and traffic). The immediate threat is the difficulty to meet pollution standards, which are designed to protect health.

  • We propose to establish a new center that will be devoted for studying air pollution, with the focus on observational analysis that can advance air quality prediction models and guide policy makers.

  • In our research center we aim to apply a unique combination of state-of-the-art measurement systems to quantify, for the first time, the relative contribution of urban, industrial and natural (e.g. dust) pollution sources on air quality levels.

  • We plan to also interact with industry and startup companies to find high-tech and low-tech solution to global air pollution problems.
