Abstract:
A Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV is predicted to decay to a pair of charm quarks around 2.9% of the time. This is the third largest branching ratio of the Higgs boson to fermions after the decays H->bb and H->tau tau. Measuring the coupling of the Higgs boson to the charm quarks is of special interest as it can directly probe the Higgs mechanism for the 2nd generation of fermions.
In this talk I will present a search for the decay H->cc in associated production of a vector boson, either a W or a Z. The search is based on the full ATLAS Run-2 sqrt(s) = 13 TeV pp collisions dataset, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 /fb collected by the ATLAS experiment during 2015 to 2018.
