Abstract:
The epsilon expansion is a standard trick in quantum field theory to construct weakly-coupled RG fixed points. Nevertheless, little is known about the landscape of theories it describes, beyond some well-known CFTs like the Ising and the O(N) models. In this talk we revisit the problem of classifying multiscalar fixed points, in the process proving new results about their spectra. Moreover, we show that there is no weakly-coupled gauged fixed point with fewer than 183 flavors.
