Prof. Ravit Helled is the Israeli Representative for NASA's Mission Juno

The Juno spacecraft, has started orbiting Jupiter on July 4th, 2016. The mission is planned to peer below the dense clouds and reveal information on the internal structure of the gas giant planet, and on the origins of our solar system.

Juno's primary objective is to reveal the story of Jupiter's formation and evolution. Juno is a spinning spacecraft placed in an elliptical polar orbit, and in the following months it will observe Jupiter's gravitational and magnetic fields, and atmospheric dynamics and composition.

The mission was launched in August 2011, and has finally reached Jupiter. Prof. Ravit Helled from the Department of Geosciences is involved in the Juno mission since 2008, and her main goals are to investigate the origin of Jupiter and constrain its composition and internal structure.
