Physics Youth Olympiads
International Physics Olympiad (IPhO)
The annual International Physics Olympiad is open to delegations of high school students from around the world. An Israeli delegation competes regularly.
Each participating country sends a delegation of five students and two accompanists. The delegation is chosen through national preliminary competitions. The students are chosen as individuals, on the basis of theoretical exams and experimental laboratory exams.

The 44th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in July 2013.
Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO)
The Asian Physics Olympiad for students from Asia and Oceania is held annually.
Each national team is composed of 8 players maximum. The contestants are chosen from general or technical schools in each of the participating countries. The competition itself is composed of two main parts: a five-hour theoretical examination and one or two laboratory examinations. The Asian Physics Olympiad takes place two months before the International Physics Olympiad, and helps prepare the students for the international competition.
Tel Aviv University, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, hosted the 12th Asian Physics Olympiad in 2011. The School of Physics and Astronomy organized the event together with the Unit for Science Oriented Youth. Delegations from 16 countries participated in this prestigious international event including Australia, Indonesia, India, Hong-Kong, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Taiwan, Israel, Mongolia, China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Russia and Thailand. The Prof. Dror Sade Astronomy and Space Exploration Olympiad
The annual Olympiad competition is held at Tel Aviv University and encourages high school students to submit their science projects.
