Physics Colloquium: Nanoscale thermal transport

Abstract:
Theory and experiment of heat flow at nanoscale dimensions will be discussed. What is the best heat conductor: is BAs better than diamond? What is the worst heat conductor?
We also discuss thermal boundary (Kapitza ) resistance, and our theories of it: (i) between a metal and an insulator, and (ii) between a liquid and a solid.
