Particle Physics Seminar

Abstract:

I  will review a new interdisciplinary field involving geophysics and particle physics:  the study of the Earth's geo-neutrinos.

I will  describe competing models for the composition of the Earth and the location of  the heat producing elements Th and U.

The data from  Borexino and KamLAND, the only two operating detectors that so far were capable of measuring the Earth's geo-neutrinos will be presented. The impact of the existing and future data on geophysical models of the Earth will be discussed.
