Geography Department Seminar: Agent-based simulations for disaster mitigation planning
Prof. Toshi Osaragi, Tokyo Institute of Technology
Abstract:
With an eye on the applications to spatial planning and sustainable development, we estimate spatiotemporal distribution of railway and automobile users.
We base on the big data form several sources: person trip survey, road traffic census, and population statistics derived from the mobile phone data.
I will talk about estimating spatiotemporal distribution of people together with their detailed attributes and trip purposes in Tokyo metropolitan area. These high-resolution estimates of population density, transport use and spatial behavior are employed in agent-based simulations aimed at establishing strategy and tactics for mitigation devastating disasters.
