January 2023: Harari participated in the Global Young Scientists Summit

Sheri Harari, Edmond J. Safra PhD student fellow (Stern lab, Life Sciences) was accepted to take part in the Global Young Scientists Summit which took place on 17-20 January 2023 in Singapore.

 

The summit brings together bright young researchers and top scientific minds from around the world to discuss science and technology trends, future game changers and how research could address major global challenges.  Speakers at the Summit include recipients of the Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, Millennium Technology Prize and Turing Award. 

 

Sheri was accepted to this special conference following a selection process where she was recommended by the Faculty of Life Sciences, by TAU, and finally by the conference organizers.

 

The Summit provides a platform for conversations on science and research, technology innovation and society, and solutions to global challenges. The event titled "Advancing Science, Creating Technologies for a Better World", was a multi-disciplinary summit that covered topics including chemistry, physics, medicine, mathematics, computer science and engineering.  All young scientists and students are encouraged to exchange ideas and knowledge with the speakers and their peers over four days under this theme.

 

Sheri got the opportunity to speak about her research titled "What makes a variant? Drivers of adaptive evolution during chronic SRAS-CoV-2 infection" with senior and young scientists from all over the world.

 

Among other social activities, the Israeli scientists participated in an event organized by the Israeli ambassador in Singapore in honor of the Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Aaron Ciechanover.
