February 2019: Grants awarded to joint projects of UC Berkeley and TAU researchers
The Koret-Berkeley-TAU (KBT) Initiative in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics is a new collaborative program of the Center for Computational Biology at UC Berkeley (CCB) and the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at Tel Aviv University. The initiative is supported by a generous donation from the Koret Foundation

As part of the KBT Initiative, we issued a call for joint research grants in computational biology and bioinformatics, aiming for collaborations between researchers at UC Berkeley and at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics. At least three Berkeley and three TAU researchers reviewed each submitted proposal, and the reviewers found almost all proposals to be excellent. Based on the reviews the budget constraints, seven proposals were selected for funding, two for full grants and five for seed grants.
The total sum of the awarded grants exceeds $700,000.

The winning grants are listed below. The next call for the KBT grants is expected in Fall 2019.
