Condensed Matter Seminar

Abstract:

Two single photon experiments are presented. In the first [PRL 117, 170402, (2016)] we measured the polarization of single photons in two incompatible bases, as well as the temporal correlations between them, using sequential weak measurements. In the second [Nat. Phys. (2017) doi:10.1038/nphys4223] we realized protective measurements, challenging the statistical character of quantum expectation values.

Fundamental, as well as practical consequences will be discussed. If time allows, some of our upcoming experiments will be outlined, e.g. those analyzing the limits of entanglement and nonlocality.
