Electrochemistry
updated: 20.09.2022
Electrochemistry is a branch of chemistry that studies changes on electrodes that promote transfer of charges, mostly between electrodes and electrolytes. This study focuses on interchange of chemical energy and electrical energy due to oxidation-reduction reactions (directly between molecules and atoms), or due to electrical currents supplied by external agents (as in battery).
The reacting electrochemical elements may be in direct proximity, or connected via an external circuit.
